How to find distance from other plants to Earth?

I have a class project that involves me trying to find out the distance from a plant to Earth. I have already got down the distance from every planet to the Sun. I remember my teacher saying something about subtracting the distance from one planet to the sun, to the distance of Earth from the Sun.

For example, the distance between Earth and the Sun is 93 million and Mercury is 36 million. How do I find the distance between those two planets? And how about a planet that is father from the Sun than Earth?
