Space is Not Silent – Where to Listen to the Amazing Sounds of Our Solar System

Our Universe is not a vast silent space, as probes sent through space have sent back the sounds of the universe, they continue to explore. Music which we can download or simply listen to online-from the mythical planet of Venus to our own planet Earth.

As a keen astronomer, I often wondered if space was really as silent as we would imagine. Yet it is not quiet, as sounds adjusted for human hearing are emitted from every moon, planet and object in space unmanned probes pass.

Earth is no doubt one of most beautiful looking planets in our immediate solar system, but it sounds monotonous and almost ugly from space. Our home sounds like a recording from a highway- without horns blowing or the eerie sound of sirens. A contrast to what most of us could imagine Earth sounds like.

One of the most enchanting sounds come from Miranda, almost dream like music similar to new age music, in the far off universe and mystical planetary moon.

A Black Hole, the dark legend of the universe and many say gateway to traveling between galaxies- emits a battle like sound- as two opposing armies unsettle each other with sporadic gunfire.

Jupiter has an alien like clicking sound, almost as if someone or something is communicating through sonar like an alien grasshopper or using a different form of morse code- we could almost feel the planet sending out an eerie lonely message from an unknown species

Neptune has a hollow and desolate sound, as desolate as our scientists claim the planet would be like on the surface. Venus, lives up to its reputation starting with the melody of the ancient battle horns of the ancient Gauls, into a sexy beat from early nineties.

Saturn starts from the buzzing sounds of rings to an enchanting if not astonishing symphony- which amazed personal from NASA who received the sounds from the far off Galileo probe, as drifted past the ringed planet. The Sun restless, volatile as it warms up our galaxy, hot, volatile and occasionally morbid sound of inner restlessness.

All these sounds, which have been adjusted for human hearing, are available freely on NASA’s official website or on you tube. Be ready to be surprised what you hear, and enjoy the sounds of our universe.
