There are typically jobs to be found in the field of health, even when there don’t seem to be any jobs to be found anywhere else. Much education will be necessary for some of the choices, and many will only require training on the job, while still others will only need a high school diploma. Keep in mind that in this article we’ll be looking at only a small sampling of the many health careers that are possible. When you learn that there are lots of jobs available in the health field, by seeing only a couple of them could motivate you to do more research.

Dental assistants are in demand pretty much everywhere. Dental assistants work in the office of the dentist and do all sorts of different things including managing patient records, setting patients up for dental procedures, taking x-rays, etc. If you work in this kind of environment it is important to be sociable and to help your patients feel at ease because lots of people are nervous about going to the dentist. You also need to stay alert and be ready to assist the dentist in whatever way he or she needs, like handing instruments while procedures are being completed. You can get a certificate to become a Certified Dental Assistant at many community colleges.

Of all the different types of employment in health care, medical billing is the one that has been expanding the most. This type of work, which is processing forms for health insurance claims and other documents that are health related, can all be done on the computer. The are companies which specialize in medical billing, and they have many job openings, because a lot of doctors and hospitals outsource to these companies. You can do this job at home as long as you have a computer. While the pay isn’t as good as many other health related professions, the amount of training and education required is not that extensive either. You can get a job fairly quickly through short training programs, but you can be prepared for a medical billing career by going with a program at an accredited college. There are many jobs where you can be trained and work at the same time.

Lots of people these days are interested in health careers because they pay well and there are lots of job opportunities in this field. However, if these are the only reasons that you are thinking about this field, you need to give it some better thought. Medical careers aren’t ever easy; they require you to have honest interest and a real aptitude for whatever job you take on. Lots of people go into health related jobs and find that they aren’t well suited to what they have taken on. Not everybody, for example, is cut out for nursing, being a home health care aide or emergency services technician. These are very demanding jobs that require lots of energy, lots of dedication and the ability to work well with other people. So if you have decided to think about starting a health career, you need to make sure that the job is something you really want and not something that you’re taking because you want a job.

Professions in the health field almost always have available spots open for good prospects. If you don’t have any more than a high school diploma, there are many jobs you can get, but it will require more if you want to be a nurse. Almost everywhere, you will find a demand for home health care aides, medical secretaries, nurses and similar types. People are going to always have health concerns, so the career direction you should head is health related.

i’m a sophomore in college with a molecular biology/premed major. i just took the practice mcat exam and definitely did not score well at all. i’m worried as to whether i’ll be accepted into med school. i know that i want to be a pediatric neurologist, but if that doesn’t work out, i need to think a/b grad school and the gre. so i’m just wondering what other jobs there are involving my major/maybe medicine? i would like to not have a lab job or be a pa. thanks guys.

I’m currently a Medical Technology/ Clinical Lab Science major. I’ve been told however that this job doesn’t pay very well, with odd hours and sometimes unpleasant working conditions. I KNOW for a fact I want to do lab work, but I’m more interested in a lot of diagnostics and research. What would be a good career for someone who is more biology (not chemistry) minded, wants to work in a lab, likes to figure out the causes of things such as disease or genetic abnormalities, and how to diagnose it and fix it, and still make good money?

I was considering majoring in physics, but I’m not sure what kind of job options I would have.
Another thing is, I don’t want to work inside all the time. What are some jobs that involve field work that use a physics or engineering major?

I’m in college right now, and with our economy sucking at the moment how difficult do u think it will be to find a job in Marine Biology in a couple of years? Any tips or personal experience would be awesome!
