What protect a space shuttle from solar radiation?
I have a project due and i have to make a space shuttle. I was wondering what protects the space shuttle from solar radiation, and on my model I put foil.
How can satellites fall to earth so easily without bouncing off of the atmosphere?
In Apollo 13 the space shuttle had to hit the atmosphere at just the right angle in order to avoid bouncing off of it. Why is it that a man-made satellite can fall to earth and manage to penetrate the atmosphere without a problem but for a space shuttle its more complicated?
Let me clarify:
Apollo 13 had to "hit" the atmosphere at the perfect angle in order to not bounce off the atmosphere. So looking at defunct satellites, how is it that they seem to hit the atmosphere at a perfect angle so as not to bounce off, when it seems that it’s not so easy to do?
How to use the nuclear waste energy itself to propel it into space?
OK, for all you nay sayers lets say for argument we agree to get this waste into space. We all know the risk of a saturn 5 and the space shuttle is usable but small payloads. So the question is,,, how to use the energy in the waste itself to propel the material toward the sun? We are looking into a space elevator (cable) and magnetics but we should be able to harness the waste energy itself to propel. We need a real think tank.
How do people travel to International Space Station without the space shuttle?
We have people travel back and forth to ISS but see space shuttle going back and forth as much. How do people get there? Does US have other ways to get into the space?
What plans are there for private space travel?
It is sad that NASA is about to launch the last space shuttle soon, with such a rich history we, as the Human race have had with space travel it is almost as if they are ending history as we know it, with that being said it does raise the question, what’s next? I know that Virgin is planning commercial space travel which is awesome but are there any privately owned companies planning to go up to the ISS or even the moon for research purposes? If they’re planning commercial space travel, why not go even further and try to colonize space?
How does the Space Shuttle propel itself in space?
After the space shuttle launches and takes off,
how does it propel itself in space?
