What are some good Science Fiction Movies related to Biology?

I need to write a review for a Sci-fi movie based on for my honors bio class. It would be great if any of you have good suggestions.
I was thinking or the new Star Trek(although I am not a fan!), but couldn’t find good based things to write.
Any Ideas?

Most modern science fiction movies are just an excuse for a load of CGI effects and action, the science goes out the window.

One where the science is at least vaguely possible is Jurassic Park. You would have to get hold of the book which goes into a lot more detail about the restoration of dinosaur DNA.

An old one with good science in it: The Andromeda Strain, about an alien virus.

Another oldie: The Fantastic Voyage, about a group of scientists who are shrunk down to tiny size and injected into someone’s body.

Alien. The alien was based on some species of wasp like the tarantula hawk moth which paralyse a creature and lay their eggs inside it. The developing larva eats the creature alive from the inside.

X-Men? people with powers from genetic mutations? you could talk about genetic variation, and how genetic mutations occur?

  • BIGgourami:

    Gattaca… classic

Well, the movie "The Core" has more of a relationship to earth science, but it is somewhat connected to biology. In the movie, the outer core of the earth stops spinning, which causes a host of catastrophes. It’s an AWESOME film!

    The Fly
    Evolution
    Jurassic Park
    I am Legend
Fantastic Voyage (this is the one where the people are shrunk and sent inside someones body to save their life)

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a good one, I think.
